If you need help, please visit one of LIFE/Houston's locations.
The in-take process averages less than 40 minutes for a first-time client visit. For repeat clients, the process takes less than 15 minutes.
Families can receive assistance up to six times before the child's first birthday. To receive help you will need:

One document showing baby's name and birth date

Photo identification for the parent/caregiver

Doctor's proof of need for specialized formulas (e.g. Nutramigen or Alimentum).
In return, you will receive enough nutrition for one week. Infants are given enough formula to provide 32 ounces per day of nutrition, for one week. Four jars of strained vegetables and cereal are offered at 5 months. Jars of strained fruits are added at 6 months and strained meats are added at 8-12 months.

Do I have to bring my baby with me? No.
Will I need any money? No. Our service is completely free.
How many times can I get help from LIFE/Houston? You can come up to six times before your child's first birthday.
What brands of formula are available? LIFE/Houston relies on donations from the community and our stock of formula can vary across several brands. Currently we purchase Parent's Choice (lactose free and soy - iron/milk based). All infant formula is regulated by the United States Food and Drug Administration and must contain all the necessary ingredients for healthy growth and development. We only stock formula that is nutritionally complete.
Is specialized formula available? Yes. We carry the following specialized formula: Enfamil EnfaCare, Enfamil AR, Enfamil Nutramigen.
What are acceptable forms of identification for the baby? Birth certificate, crib card, Medicaid card and verification of birth facts are acceptable.
